Bay Produce began when Challenge Center built its first half acre greenhouse in 1986 as an employment and training platform for clients with disabilities. It grew beefsteak tomatoes using a semi-hydroponic process. Based on its success, a full acre greenhouse was built in 1996 which allowed for increased, year-round production and work for participants. Vine ripened, greenhouse grown products of Bay Produce are sold through local grocery stores in Superior, Duluth, Two Harbors, Grand Rapids and Cloquet. Local wholesalers purchase our products and take them outside of our direct sales area and market them primarily to restaurants. Old plants when done with their useful life become food for local livestock, keeping disposal costs low, and keeping them out of the landfill.
Marathon Industries provides evaluation, training and employment opportunities to adults with mild to moderate Developmental Disabilities. It is a unique opportunity for businesses. Without investing in a new plant or additional labor, businesses can meet peak demand cycles, or explore and develop new product lines.
Marathon Confidential Paper Shredding provides a professional and reliable paper shredding service by disposing of confidential information through a secure process. Confidential paper shredding reduces unnecessary storage costs and eliminates the risk of important information being misused or stolen. It also plays a vital role in businesses complying with the Data Protection Act (1998). The waste is safely collected from secured bins located at your premises and then taken to our secure facility to be shredded. As a responsible company, the shredded paper is disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner.
